of Colonels Newman, & Chambers, those delivered to Colonel Chambers Detachment were delivered in very good order but Ensign Barton who had Charge of the others failed to deliver them, on the plea, that he had Receipts for them as (US), State arms, and Consequently could not deliver them as State arms.I have not had any communication with Colonel Smith on the Subect Since, with whom I presume there would be no difficulty. I shall endeavor to have the matter arranged with Genl. Flournoy who now Commands the Regulars in this Quarter. The men in Colonel Smiths Camp have and are, suffering much by sickness which in many instances have been fatal. Pray can the Report be true that Colonel Cuthbert has [?] his Political friendship from you, it appears to come from unquestionable authority yet I cannot credit it. It will afford me much pleasure to hear frequently, and freely. We are all in good health at present and that this may find you and family in the field Enjoyment, that inestimable Blessing is the Sincere wish of [?] Governor, your Friend & fellow Citizen Mr Hoyas
