Savannah 14th July 1821 Dear Sir, The Rev. Mr. Capers?, lately of this City, an able and distinguished Methodist Minister, intends visiting the Creek Nation and will be accompanied by two or three persons, with the intention of instructing the Indians, and establishing schools for the education of their Children. I take much pleasure in introducing Mr. Caper to your acquaintance and as letters from you to some of the Chiefs of that tribe might be very serviceable, and aid in promoteing his laudable views, I must ask from you, what I am assured you will readily and with pleasure grant,
