We [returned]? here yesterday from trip south - found an excellent roadway and very direct between this Post and San Francisco Creek. At the latter point water is abundant - excellent grazing for stock and plenty of wood (cedar) on and near the mountains. The scenery is grand and beautiful. From top of a mountain near San Francisco Creek I could see Mountain ranges in Mexico - 40 miles south of the Rio Grande and fully 100 miles from our lookout.
