Fort Concho Tx. Sept. 10th 1876

My Dear Alice, I did not receive any letter from you by yesterday's mail -so I conclude that you were on the wing westward and did not have the oportunity to write or perhaps the failure of the mails to connect, as usual, at some point may have detained your letter which should have come to hand by last mail. The Paymaster, Maj Wilson, arrived last evening. I had Anderson fix up the dining room for the Maj. and his Clerk as my boxes etc. are in the room that he has usually occupied and Anderson sleeps in the small room back of it. I expect to get my pay for August to-morrow (Monday) and will send Dft to you at Chicago or Jacksonville, by
