and permanently located or established in this District I now have no doubt but what the whole of my Regt will be ordered here in the Spring or so soon as the Indian troubles are Settled. The troops Gen Sheridan brought with him to this point belong in another District and of course will return to it - and being here only temporarily although in my District they are under the immediate Command of Gen Sheridan and report direct to him. Gen Sheridan finds me on hand and ready to make the best possible use of the troops at present in and belonging to District and has assured me that my command will soon be very much increased.
