Garrison Bellevue 12th April 1809 Sir I have the pleasure to acknowledge the Receipt of your two letters bareing date 15th and 29th March, both of which I now with pleasure apply to --- Respecting the Farming the Season in my opinion is too far advanced, to commence for the present year when taking in consideration the time to prepare for it not having either hands or Team -- yet Feeling every disposition to improve the mind of the Indians particular in so valueable a point as agriculture -- and for your further consideration I have rented the land Tilled by Mr. Boilvin last summer to Mr Julian, for this season, at Fifty Bushels of corn, payable in the fall, which will be with what little now on hand, be sufficient to winter the stock on Hand, dureing which Time proper Persons and preperation me be made -- The hoggs will be under the eye of Mr. Julian dureing the summer & Fall -- should you disapprove of this plan, let me know when I will dispose of the stock and other property agreeable to your order -- my letter & Lieut Pryor will inform you the fate of the Bull -- the ox that strayed of I have not heard of since, The loss falls on Majr Wilson -- a smith shop shall be built, though it will require some time, as Hands are not to be hired at this time -- and the military
