Armies have ruined the country, for all agriculturial purposes. Although the country in here never suffered very severely untill the 13 Army Corps visited them. The 19 Corps passed through without molesting anything, while the western boys take every thing withing their reach. All that the Q. M. take they give vouchers for, and if a man can prove himself loyiul, at the end of the war, he will get paid. The 2nd Brigade has been left to guard commissaries, and to keep communication open to Boats along the Bayou. All but the 130 and 97th have gone back to Franklin. Boats run from Brashear City to this point with stores, and this is as far up as they can get, so I think there is a prospect of staying here some time if so you will hear from me often, if not letters will be uncertain
