1886 in my room Rena well enough to go out walking Mar 26 I went to Chicago stayed all night at Clarenda, Albert's wife taken to the asylum - May 9th had a heavy thunder storm last night - unclear 11 I went to Chicago, stayed all night at Willeys - Margaret was here about two weeks ago May 14 - 15 heavy rains 16 so cold had frost - slept - with bed quilt and thick comforter over me had got snowed in the front chamber to let a hoarder have my room but soon sent him off and moved back again Mon 17th Rena and Allie went to Chicago to have their pictures taken - very pleasant day - 18th Martha went to Chicago (bought three boxes of strawberries for 25 cts ) Aunt Lucy and Josie here in the evening got news of the death of old Mr Brewster - Charlie Myall has now been sick over four weeks is better but still unable to work - 19th very pleasant day - tomorrow expect to start once more to Missouri so no more in this book for a long time May 20th left Chicago, arrived in Trenton early next morning found Sam and Etta waiting for me, went to Corbetts, Sam went home, Etta stayed all day, Sunday night (23rd) went to Sam's to stay all the week - Thurs (27th) they picked enough for a short cake weather has been pretty warm all the time since I have been here have had no rain which is needed, have plenty of goosberries. Sat 29th went back to Corbett's Sun 30th we all went to Trenton to soldier's memorial service - May 30th had green peas and new potatos for dinner.
