we passed through Philadelphia then along the Hudson River into Elizabeth N J and from Jersey City took the ferry which steamed us into the New York landing: Breakfasted at depot in Jersey City and did not dine untill on board the "Resolute" at 1 pm. The Dinner was very good and satisfying the service is excellent. They realize that we as Government nurses are a desired acquisition to the nation at this time and place a value per head at no small rate according to all appearances. We nurses were assigned a table to ourselves, and we were eight white women. Anita Newcomb McGee informed me that several colored - and in all about 75 counting the men were going.
