We had a very good boatman who talked bad grammar pretty freely, - Coming back I headed the procession & walked into the hotel with this immense string of fish. Everybody stopped to exclaim & enquire where we had bought them. A lady & gentleman had sunburned themselves all day & had not caught a single fish. The first night I came here I was sitting alone in the parlor wishing I knew the nice looking girl at our table; when she came in the room, & sat down by her Mother. "There" said I, "she will stay there all the evening, & there is no chance of my knowing her for I would never dare to speak to her first."
