17 with the life of His disciples. There is a hidden life of Jesus in this world to day which accounts for the marvellous vitality of His religion. If Christ'y had consisted simply of maxims and unclear, it had met its doom long ere this. But it lives because Christ still lives. The soul and substance of Christ'y is the personality of Christ Himself. He is embosomed in His Church, and lives enthroned in the hearts of His disciples. From the moment of His birth the world hated Him, hunted Him, beset Him, Scorned Him, at last betrayed Him Condemned Him, Scourged Him Crucified Him, buried Him, and thought it had done with Him, but not so, He had a resurrection.
