But not to tarry upon this point - it is sufficient to say that the world has received such pregnant & powerful impulses from these religious awakenings that the facts of the worlds' history are taking shape around them as great Eras of time. God has been in all this work, proving to us that these seasons are his times for saving men. Does this then strengthen our faith. Does it not give to us something to rest an expectation upon? Have we not a right to go into this work with all confidence that if we are ourselves first revived we shall see the mighty salvation of God x The history of revivals proves conclusively that while certain seasons have been marked as revival seasons yet that God is not himself dependent upon times & seasons in saving men. Nothing stands out with greater promise
