In this manner religion is accommodated to the weakness of man. Without the eternal and material in which to embody the spiritual, he could not comprehend as well the higher and most important part of worship. Just as language is the unclear in which thought is carried and through which it is communicated to the mind. So is ceremony the medium through which the essence of spiritual things is brought to our senses. We look at the spiritual not directly but indirectly. We conceive of God, not so much as a spirit as a being with a unclear like our own -
