New York June 4? 1787 Sir Having taken the Convenient Stores (on Byvanks?) for the purpose of better accomodating such of our friends as think proper to send their Gods to our Charge; we take the Liberty of acquainting you therewith & of requesting your Consignments to this City -- in Case you have not already established your Correspondent in that Line -- We shall Endeavour at the best Interest of those who favour us with their Business & furnish them in advance if required from twenty five to fifty per Cent on the Estimated Value of the property put into our hands -- holding the Liberty if we find it necessary of disposing of the Same to amount of the Sums advanced in thirty days from the date, & charging an Interest on such advanced sums to the time that they are received from the Sales -- Two & an half per Cent will be our Commission on West India Goods & Country produce & the Customary Storage with Such other incidental Charges as strikethrough: unclear inevitably arise, Whatever orders we may Receive with the Goods respecting their Sales that Do not interfere with the terms above given will be strictly attended to & all orders in purchasing & Shipping of Goods for our friends will be executed in the best manner for their Interest, & at as Low Rates as they are done by other Established Houses in this City -- We remain Sir Your Very Obl Ser Shaler Sebor Chauncy Whittelsey Esq
