We mean to begin in earnest to harvest potatoes as soon as the weather permits.

Some correspondence has passed between us & James & Reed & Mary Tyler about their education; & about them on the 27th of June this year, I wrote to Mr. Winsor "I know of no reason why they should not all become highly cultivated people". However, wiser & more experienced people than myself are better able than I to judge of this matter; & very likely the good advice of some trusted & trustworthy friend might be more valuable to them now.

We mean to go to Edinburgh on the 6th - Trox. to stay with my sister Mrs. Hill, & to see a Cat Show there on the 7th Trox.
