ment has been made upon the grounds around it. I was so glad to see all my things and books, they seemed like old friends to me. I could not realize that they or myself were here and when I unpacked them and found how nicely everything was put up and thought of you there alone I ad to shed a few tears and almost wished myself in Kentucky with you. Mrs. Birch has been so kind to me since I came away as well as while there; have had several little tokens of affection from her in the form of billets beside a good long, kind letter since you left - a thousand thanks to her. I love her and Mr Birch too and my heart swells with gratitude towards them for their kindness and sympathy to us all. Tell Mrs. B. she shall have a long letter from me very soon; would send one with this but they are waiting to carry it to the office. Received Lillie's letter last night (tonight is Saturday it is a week since I begun this scrawl) was indeed glad to get it but it made my heart ache to think she was sad and her health so poor; am afraid remaining there will entirely destroy it - has she written you anything about returning to Mt. W? Am sorry your school is so small; write me all about it, who of the scholars are with you, how Achsah succeeds and likes &c &c cannot not bear to have the school go down how I want to see you all there - how do you spend your time? Are you not lonely? Give my love to all the scholars and tell them I should like to hear from them - How were they pleased with what I wrote them My love to Mr. and Mrs. Wright and family, Dr. Hobbs and family, Mrs. Kellar and all other friends. All here join in sending much love and many kind wishes to you and Achsah. Write me very often won't you for I love to hear from you. Affectionately Sister Sarah

Brother Raymond has gone away to day to preach and Abby and little Sarah have gone with him. We all went up to Mr. Barker's and spent a night before school commenced am looking for a letter from sister every day; Suppose it will go to you first--was glad to get those for my trunks.
