 It's not bad here at all. the Army trys [sic] to give us as many

conveniences as we would get at home, but we'd all like to be back in the world just the same. we get mail everyday and, of course, I'm the first one to meet the chopper. we also get one hot meal a day.

 I have been reading quite a few books, and my mother is sending

more. I asked her for some of Dreisers. I like him. Jack said Mr. Conroy also enjoyed his writings. I am trying my hand at writing myself. It is one of my ambitions. No #1 is getting home.

 I certainly hope you folks are in good health and getting through

the cold winter. I heard on the radio that the midwest received some snow this past week. I trust good old Missouri managed to get a few inches. Nothing like Boston, though! Best Regards John
