Dear Jack:

 Many thanks for your letter of the 26th. I'm very glad you liked the book about Nixon. Yes, I read the

Jewett book in the ngst? edition, which was soon withdrawn and replaced by another with several very minor corrections. I have always felt that Hiss was almost certainly innocent; but even if he were guilty, that could not condone the skullduggery of Chambers, Nixon and the FBI for framing him and suboring lying, without which he could not have been commited [sic] (even if guilty).

 I completed "Midland Humor" and enjoyed it much; I agree about the Falstaff piece.
