Dear Jack,
What a pleasure to hear from you! And I'm happy to know you had your stories published in a new

volume. The review in the Chicago Times is accurate and thoughtful. You richly deserve it!

Bob Parrish send me a clipping from a Chicago paper announcing you had won a Lifetime Achievement

Award for your works. Again, so richly deserved.

I was deeply saddened to know of Gladys' death. She was pure gentleness and humanity.
The news about your losing part of your left leg was truly saddening, too. The fact that you are now somewhat

recovered buoys me. I hope by next writing you'll be underline recovered /underline.

I would be elated to have you review my new novel, underline The Wednesday Game, /underline anywhere

you can. I want you to know that your reviews of my books have been a strong incentive to keep me writing. I'll make sure the publisher gets a review copy to you. The novel will be out in September.

I plan to be in Mason city the week of June 12-19 - my first return in twenty years? I always wish for the best for

you. Do keep in touch. Happy New Year! Affectionately, Martin
