in pencil: Wyman, Dave [no date] June 17 Dear Jack:

Thanks for "What Every Young Boy Should Know". It's a wow! I know I should have written you long before this, but I can only

plead ignorance. School ended Friday, and now I have a little more time than before.

My novel Rock will be out on August 18th. Let me know whether you'll be getting a review copy from the Sun Times. If not, I'll send you one.

My book of poems, A Place to Stand, will be out sometime in July. I don't have copies of either yet.

I was offered a job in Dangerous Dick's Dept. at Berkeley, but they upped my salary here, gave me some better courses, and the balance-pan fell

in Seattle. I saw Tony Ostroff in San Francisco when I was giving a poetry reading, but we didn't have much time to talk.

I'm writing a play (Echo: "Who isn't?") and I hope to have a first draft finished by mid-July Anyway, whenever I wind it up, I'm heading for the

Midwest to spend a week or two with my parents in whiting. I hope you and Gladys will be around then, and not off to Missouri or Oregon.

Nothing much to report on the gossip front. I feel out of touch. I don't know where anybody is or what anybody's doing. you tell me. It was good
to see the letter from Clifford Wright. His changeover and marriage are two of the wonders of our time. He was known as the Queen of Seattle when

he lived here, I'm told. I understand John Woods has another book of poems ready. Hope he peddles it without trouble. He seems to me a marvelously talented guy, and that's sometimes a handicap.

Even after my long delinquency, this letter ought to earn me a note from you. Tell me of the time and times. Sing the random light made whole.
  Best, Dave W.
