5-21-66 Dear Mr. Conroy,

 I meant to write this letter to you much sooner than this, in fact I was going

to write to you the same afternoon that I read your article in the Chicago Daily News. The article concerned the late Willard Motley. I don't know if anybody wrote to you about this article, but I did want to write and let you know that I thought it was a marvelous and warm tribute to a man that I thought of and honored more than any human being that I have ever known. I never got to meet Mr. Motley, but by reading of, and about, him, I can tell that he must have been a wonderful human being. Numerous times I have walked the streets and visited the places that he wrote about in his books, and always thought about him when doing so. I thought of and admired this man so very, very, much -
