Dear Jack: -

You had a right to expect something more in the way of thanks than my minimal 

pateerd? postcard?. Indeed, if I remember right, I said in it, "This, for the unrest?...," or something to that effect.

 Well, it's been a hell of a long unrest, and so I can only hope that you will not spurn this,

which, obviously enough, is intended to be what I am talking about.

 I haven't written sooner because I didn't finish reading "M.H." until late last night. Don't

laugh. It's about one page a day, and at the rate of about one word a minute. And this has it been for a long time - in fact, ever since the unbid?ner? of that great intellectual ?.ge? in the first grade. No kidding, it's a wonder
