Dec. 21, 1976 - A.M. Tues. Dear Jack,
I am saddened for Gladys and you at the news about your daughter Margaret Jean Tillery. How inadequate are words! It is the living, enduring the loss, who suffer the anguish. I, too, wish we could all be together for some cheer this holiday. Forgive this "no-card." I have a virus, a nuisance, almost visiting me each year around this time - but the antibiotics shall cure. But I've not been able to get out to buy the proper cards, etc. I hope you are working on your autobiography - difficult now, I know, but a solace, too. And we all look forward to reading underlined: you. There's little to tell - N.Y. changes (for the worst) - and tho I know people of all ages, nostalgia for a past that
