    I know, I think, how you feel about Arna Bontemps, and the passing of friends.  Many of mine, too, have gone gone - leaving a nostalgic ache.
    Oh Jack, I do so want you to finish your autobiography.  It would be so very important not only to literature, but to the true history of the USA - especially at this time, when the underlined:  whole world is in chaos, our own having a "depression," underlined:  if called by other names by our corrupt politicians.  We cannot shut out the mess, but doing underlined: your thing (and think of all the writers, too, you so generously discovered, published way back, spiritually sustained, encouraged as well as your own very vital contribution to Amer. letters) underlined: is affirmation - a keeping alive the best things of our now muddled country.
