THE SOCIETY OF MIDLAND AUTHORS June 27, 1971 Minocqua, Wis. stamped LOUIS E. LAFLIN, 'JR. 205 MAYFLOWER ROAD LAKE FOREST, ILLINOIS BOX 631 60045

MR JACK CONROY VICE-PRESIDENT FOR MISSOURI 701 FISK STREET MOBERLY, MISSOURI 65270

Dear Jack Conroy:
It is my sincere hope that the Society of Midland authors may become truly representative of its name.

As Vice-President for Missouri, are you willing, from time to time, to submit recommendations for membership of qualified writers from your state?

For the Annual Meeting, usually in May, will you attend and read a brief (1 page) report on the creative writing

in your state published during the past year? Being unable to attend, will you send a proxy representative, or appoint someone in Chicago to read your report, or permit us to choose a reader for it?

If our Society could have, and file, such annual reports, I feel it would more truly be fulfilling its professed functions
  Cordially yours
  Ellsworth Laflin
 (President)
