Sunday morning Feb. 13, 1983 John Sobieski Rt. 6 Box 580 Chippewa Falls, Wis. 54729

Dear Jack,
I hope you don't mind reading my handwriting, but Joanne is still asleep and I don't want to wake her

with the typewriter. It's only 7 a.m.

I had an interesting day, yesterday, but also have a hang-over today. I went to the village of Cadot, about

9 miles east of here, to get a gasket for our dishwasher door. The man who runs the IGA grocery store also is the Maytag dealer.

is on the corner where the road goes to our town dump. It's a small country bar where one can meet his neighbors and have a good conversation. Sherman, the owner, had put up a big sign on the wall: "To celebrate our 5th anniversary of screwing the public - Beer 25¢ - Bar Booze 50¢ - Month of February." Well, as long as a glass of beer was only a quarter I couldn't help but stay there a while. A man who I haven't seen for a long time came in and we had a long talk. He is a batchelor [sic] and will be 64 soon and is thinking of retiring - he's marketing manager
