P.S. Since you ask about Fair's novel: some years ago when I sent HOGBUTCHERS [I note appreciatively that you - unlike 95% of the editors & agents I've dealt with - took the trouble to spell my title correctly) to Harcourt Brace. They came on with a lot of crap abt having to consult their attorney about my using the title at this time, etc. I pointed out that I had had an excerpt from the novel, complete with title, in print years previously - whereupon they conceded the point. What is noteworthy is that this is the only time in all those years that I was able to make a book publisher back down & shut up --- Too bad you associate me only with THESE SEVENTEEN. MUCH BETTER STUFF SINCE THEN -- FS
