April 15, 1986 Dear Mr. Conroy,

    It seems your name has been familiar to me as long as I can remember.
    When I brought Dad (and Mother) to Michigan to recover from bout in hospital with pneumonia I packed along "The Weed King & Other Stories" by Jack Conroy as I noticed a marker in the middle of it & knew he would be anxious to finish it.
    It was not to be.  On February 17th your old friend, Don Russell passed away.  
    Inside the book, the marker, your last letter to him, and so I have your address.  I am sorry I waited so long to write, but I have been busy running back & forth to Elmhurst tending to business & getting mother settled in -- as she doesn't want anyone living with her.
    By the way she is going to Cody, Wyoming in May accompanied
