May 22, 1979 Dear Jack oboy oboy:

How goes it? I just came back from my yearly visit to Nat. Institutes of Health, after a long, rambling ride by Airport Limousine, up the Potomac River until we crossed over into Maryland - cost me 4.75, but was worth the price. Delivered me right to the door, no hassle. The doc would probably have said OKeh to my going to Kansas City, but I didn't press my luck. He said there was nothing new they could do heart-wise for me, gave me a clean bill and a fresh pack of medicines and soon I was on the way back to home. Stopped off in Washington to get some old Scotch, unblended, the kind they don't sell in Alexandria -- good, good, good. By the way, what of Old Judy Lee Rayford? I wrote to him and letter was not returned. Nelson Rosenberg wants to know also - Nelson used to call him - Nelson is from Durham, North or South Carolina - I guess Judy is just getting "sot" in his ways and refuses to do nothing for nobody. Lemme know if Judy is still Judy or if there is a turn for the worse. We had a mess of poke sallit greens 'tother day - picked from my back yard. Right tasty - altho I noticed my son didn't eat much (as I did). I guess he will have to grow to like it. Like us.
