pencil in top margin: Rogers, John C.

July 5, 1977 Dear Jack-oboy oboy:

Liked your story, The Morphadite, in underlined: december. Johnson returned my drawings and photo - he's a good guy, not like some of these editors who don't ever return stuff.
Can't figure the magazine though - lots of poetry and photos. He must have a following, although what kind or how many I have no idea. At 4.00 each I can't get any copies. He publishes for the money crowd I guess - well, I liked the photos and the way magazine is printed.
What did you think of Murrell Edmunds; "Reservoir" - I would say that is not his cup of tea - although everybody seems to be getting into it - except Conroy and Rogers - got enough to do with keeping the STRAIGHT copy STRAIGHT.
Muhrer and Lovejoy spent two days with me, putting the sleeping bags in our basement. Took me for a crab feast down Maryland-way and to an outside bar in D.C. - they went to Old Heidelberg one night and liked it (my old hangout) - said it had a good stew and dark German beer. Guess they are back in Missouri by now. Bit of Bluegrass freaks, aren't they?

Salud, Jack
