Dear Sherwood– I was glad to have your good letter. If you've something you especially like, coming out, or if any of your paintings are to be shown, I'd appreciate a line, so that I can look them up. I haven't seen anything of yours since "Many Marriages." I had a nice talk over the phone with Huebsch, unknown getting in touch with Gilman, for some help on this Schoenberg Opera. I've seen several people including a "leading" manager– but a real American opera with score by Schoenberg doesn't seem to be wanted and I can't afford to devote another minute to it. I haven't a job, but I hear there's one in Chicago, so I'll sell some junk and go out there soon. That
