postcard postmark PHILADELPHIA 18 OCT 1969 PM PHILADELPHIA The Quaker City WILLIAM PENN STATUE Atop the tower of Philadelphia's famed City Hall, looking out over the city he founded in 1682, stands William Penn, a gigantic 37-foot statue of copper and bronze, weighing 53,348 pounds. No point in all of Philadelphia is higher than William Penn's hat, which rises 548 feet above the ground.
