There are about 25 houses none of which are of more than 18 mo. standing except the P.O. building. The few shanties that were built previous to that are either removed or used for out buildings. Our store is the largest building there being 60 x 24 ft. and two stories. The next largest store is 50 ft deep. We called at nearly all the business places, and just before leaving called at the school house. It is a fine building, painted white with bell tower, size about 24 x 34 with patent-seats & desks for 60. The school commenced last Monday. The teacher, Mr. Miner was there preparing to sound? out with the help of a few of the scholars. I liked his appearance. The school is provided with 12 or more large maps which cannot be said of the Turin Union Free School. Preaching service is held at this school room every two weeks by the M.E. society and sabbath school every sabbath. The day school now numbers 50. The town is not all that can be desired nor did I expect or come to find it such a place. There is too much
