 I am wondering whether or not I answered your cordial and friendly Christmas letter.  If I didn't I do now.
 I rather hoped that I could get away to come down and see you Katherine, Paul and Elizabeth Green during the Christmas hollidays [sic] but people kept arriving and departing and in the midst of the festivities Mother ? took to her bed and I became head errant [sic] boy for the nurse.
