Tuesday 26, '70 Jack o Boy:

Back from the hinterlands where I merely walked, ate farm cooking and drank Spring water,

and an artist-friend drove me around the country and thru parts of George Washington National Forest. Am still recuperating, but have to go back to NH for brief checkup tomorrow. Navy friend is going to drive me to clinic; unlike Jay du Von, so far as I know he is not a stool pigeon or ultra conservative - his wife is a friend of mine from Depression Years and her first husband was ex-Nazi artist who painted Jackie Kennedy's portrait and made a big splash in USA and then suddenly went back to Austria, actually, I think he just couldnt put up with the Jews and British in USA! His name is Franz Bueb, and he did some covers for TOWN and Country mag, also restaurant murals. Needless to say Washington society loved him, as they did everything Nazi during WWII, in their quiet fashion. Am broke and not much to live on - in debt and behind in taxes - strange people are checking my taxes & debts - WHO? No one seems to know or will tell. They tried to keep [me] from earning a living because I was a radical, so called, during the 1930's, and now that I barely came thru a heart operation they still hound me. The young people are so right - it is hard to trust adults today, and Nixon and Spiro are just about as fascistic as you c an get without wearing a Swastika and Brown uniform. Hope life is better with you. Best, Jack II. on side Judy sends me Ala. weekly he writes for - same old Judy! Big commissions in the future he says - At least he can live on $25 00 a week on the bayou. Live high, I imagine.
