November 22, 1948 Dear Jack, I take my pen in hand only to tell you the bad news. We could not stop publication of the Count-Schuman version of my book because I did not loan the money to put down. It required a bond, not less than then thousand dollars (of they accepted such a small challenge) to serve an injunction and stop publication of the book. The New York attorney I am told was heart broken because he said we had a 100-1 scoop. Strangely enough it just has dawned on me that undoubtedly this new version must be written by the fellow that was to put the Count-Prior version in such fine form. You may have heard of him, Malcolm Brinnin -- and he a good friend of the Bergan Evans family. This (the above) is my guess so don't quote me. Count cannot write a straight sentence.
