March 25, 1914. Ducky Marder: I am waiting anxiously for a letter from you, telling whether or not you can come. I so hope that you can. It seems ages since you went away and now it is spring again. This is a fine day though very windy. So warm that the furnace fire makes the house uncomfortable, but we can't let it go out as we need it when the sun goes down. I took a nice walk yesterday and heard robins and a bob-o-link singing. The day before I heard a meadow lark. I have finished hemming the diapers, 30 in all, (I did them on the machine) and I think that will be enough. If not, I can easily make others later on. Sunday I did some ironing and made an apple pie. The washlady was unable to stay but half a day last week on account of a bad cold so she hadn't time to iron. Nellie Zeh is busy every day with her packing. Has got all her books packed and some of the pictures
