I was meant to write because I had that ghastly sensitiveness to the nature of words without which one had better leave authorship alone.

 I write this to you because I know you will be interested and I should ask you not

to mention it. If the thing I'm working on now does see the light of day, I want it to come as a surprise.

 I often think about coming back to America, but I get no farther. I love London with

a passion and sentimentality which no other city can awaken in one.

 For four months one summer I wandered about on the continent. I saw Brussels and a

great deal of Germany.
