Your theory re. Dreiser incident is most interesting and convincing. I hope that Mr. D, in his silent, enduring way, will not entirely ignore it all when he returns. I am so glad to find you tolerant about it. The Phoenix Book Shop here, as you no doubt know, is preparing a bibliography or your things for their next catalogue. Like most people, they had condemned Dreiser; but they were delighted, not only with your theory, but also with your attitude when I told them. Their shop was where I found "Mid American Chants" after having hunted for it for over a year. Haven't had a second to read any of it yet.
