2 things since I began Eve Watson. One thing I'm more certain of: The women I know-suburban bourgeoisie, Dill Pickle-women, artist, business women, are basically motivated by the same instincts, to a far more pronounced degree than men. That is the difference among women is more largely a matter of externals or accident My typist says they are far more simple than I think -- but she didn't know what I thought. I am a little chary of hard and fast conclusions.

The story gets on. The form has certainly tightened in this third attempt. Ill feel better about offering it this fall or winter.

Cornelia read the story of the old Minneapolis druggist and got a kick out of it. The pundits in the East that have examined it criticized it mainly on the score that it is "not a novel." I think the title is against it. "Some Men Write Fairy Stories" sounds like a collection of pipe dreams -- and of course it is largely that But it is a unified story. I think Ill call it "Ves Walmsley is Crazy"
