pencil notation: answer to July 3, 1935 printed letterhead: 242 Calhoun Avenue Throggs Neck New York City Monday Dear Mrs. Anderson, Thank you so much for your letter. I had hoped to come down this week, but luck just isn’t with me, I guess. My car that has never given me trouble, has suddenly gone wrong and what’s worse is that Willys-Knight want so much to fix that I won’t be able to raise the amount for a couple of months. Meanwhile the car stops about every ten miles - and goes to sleep - fast asleep at that - so I just can’t go any distance from home with it. Of course I suppose I need a new car - mine is a 1926 model - but that’s equally impossible this year.
