As we drove down the mountains I had the same feeling I had on the way to and from Marion and Galax every time the mood started downhill - a great protest inside me “Let’s don’t go down!” And every time the road started uphill again - a sudden rush of exaltation. I am from the hill country, but I guess the mountains are my home. The view from Roaring Gap was not as clear as usual on account of a thickish fog.
