928 Clark St. Lincoln, Nebraska Sept. 20, 1950 Dear Jack Conroy:

This is the only paper I can find in the living room. and as its early morning, and my son is still asleep in what also serves as my study, I'll use it, and do you excuse it as you must so much else.
Enclosed you will find a check for $4.10 to pay for the book you sent us two Christmases ago and postage. It came with its inscription to Arnold and we relished it. Then one of my negative "states" set in. Just reading, reading, reading. No outgo at all. Home Circle letters which Sid's family, scattered from New York to Vancouver keeps up as a family tradition, went out only after months of delay when they should be dispatched pronto. If you know the state you'll understand, if you don't, my pen isnt up to conveying its pervasiveness.
I checked the library and found they do have your Midland Humor. As I looked at the card in the file I had a feeling that the title was not well chosen. Midwest Humor is the one I wanted. Midland could be the English midlands or anything. Arnold is now in Junior High and for his drama class they are to tell stories of your kind. I will get him to take the book to school and use stuff from it.
I have come out of the woods with of all things a lot
