2. Among the treasures I have crossed out: is a are 2 tape cassettes of Conroy reading the opening chapters of his Autobiography to a night school class at the Chicago Loop College, Nov. 28, 1973. Studs was the instructor, and the reason for Conroy being there. The reason Studs had Conroy there was:
1) Midland authors were honoring Conroy with a ceremony and a prize. Conroy rode the bus in from Moberly to accept it. He also rode the bus back. (Fitz had a memorable piece on this in the Sun-Times; if my filing system was any good I'd send you a copy of it. When I eventually get the basement cleaned out I'll find it and backlog you.) 2) An autographing party was arranged for Dec 1, 1973 for a newly published anthology Conroy co-edited at the Old Town School of Folk Music for which Studs was master of ceremonies. I have tape cassettes of this, too, with Studs, author Jay Nash, and Conroy on 'em.
Studs may not be aware I have these cassettes; I don't know if he or anybody else recorded these affairs. If not, and if they are good enough to air on his WFMT radio program, he is welcome to use them. And Jack, you of course, can use them for whatever purpose.
