Oak Park, Illinois August 23rd, 1973 Sage Jack Conroy:
Illustrious Sir, a very peculiar happening occurred last Saturday: When I awoke in the morning,
the first thing I thought of was that I should write to you. I also was thinking about Don Russell telling me about his visit with you a year or so ago.
We have had my wife's niece and her husband visiting with us this month. They live in Fort
Lauderdale. They are originally from this area. Their names are Joe and Vera Hunt. Joe's brother lives in Antioch, ILL. He is a widower (plenty of money as has Joe). So Joe is up there visiting him, and Vera is here with us. Vera and Frances have been going here and there together. At last here is the peculiar happening. On that same Saturday mentioned before, they brought with them in the late afternoon a copy of the Chicago Daily News. There in the "Panorama" section is the article about "The Sage of Moberly". So now I am writing the letter which I probably would have written anyhow. As to the article in the News, I think it could have been better. Perhaps you'd like to know something about what has been happening to me. Well, I was doing very well
