160 Parkside Ave. Brooklyn, N.Y. 11226 June 30, 1972 Dear Jack,

Thanks once again - for north country underlined: Anvil. It brings the wheel whirling back to the old Anvil and its brawny blacksmith and Ironmaster and wheelwright, the Sage of Moberly himself. And then there is Meridel with her underlined: Corn Village, and the wheel whirls faster and faster until the spokes are a blur and the black earth flies in all directions.
I shall have to subscribe to it as well as to December.
How is your autobiography doing? Anywhere near completion?
We had to cut our stay short in Chicago, spent only two days there. Took underlined: December along with us, and spent much of our travel time up to my ears in it:
Have you read any of Holdar [sic] Laxness's novels? If you have not, try to get hold of his underlined: "Independent People." Iceland is the news today because of the chess match between Spassky, the Russ, and Fisher, our own temperamental lad. Jeanette and I were planning to visit the country, and one of my projects was to try to interview Laxness. We'll have to let it go for another year because of more pressing business.
Regards to Gladys from both of us.

Sincerely, Ben
