God was not t author of it, but it proceed from their own carnal hearts, it is earthly, sinful, & devilish - for certainly concludes he, where envying & strife is, there is confusion, and every evil work. Such streams prove t fountain of t heart to be t seat of every vile affliction. Now in direct contrast to this he sets t wisdom wh. is fr above. But says he t wisdom or religion wh. is fr above is first pure, then peaceable - gentle & easy to be unclear full of merry & good fruits, without partiality & without Hypocrisy. These things show its excellence & superiority to every thing wh. ever bore t name of religion beside & would seem to make it an object infinitely desirable by all
