5 May 1972 Dear Jack.

Yesterday I discovered the Abraham Lincoln Book Store (underlined: Newman - but NOT Cardinal Newman) is at 18 E. Chestnut - about 100 yards East of the AA Club, the "Mustard Seed".
I went in and had a visit with the Sales-guy, Clark.
The [[underlined: Centennial Park] which is the Lawn in front of the Bldg has a large tree in the Center and a sort of Grey polished STone which has carved on it
     Centennial Park
    1865 - 1965

Alluding, of course, to I Century beyond the Civil War. The 1st stone was stolen - but this new one is deeply anchored, - so vandals may be TOO Lazy to steal it - or TOO fearful of being Caught.

I think Clark knows you, and Straelse and he did know Paul Rhymer and knows Paul's Widow, Mary Frances, at the Chi HIST Soc.
I'll NOW go back to mourning for that latter-Day Allen Pinkerton, J Edgar Hoover
