    I gave this joyous news to Merlin & Bowen on the phone a bit ago.  Last Sept 29 marked 15 years clean in NN for Merlin.  Ruth, his faithful spouse, does  NOT smoke, but Alas! Johnny, his Lake Forest U son is a human chimney.  He was NN whilst in our Army in West Germany - but he underlined: "deserted"  to the filthy habit.  Just a cork-tipped Coleridge too!
   Mary is out getting our 8 years old Pontiac - freshly-painted.   Tho a 1960 job it has only 55,000 on it - and is a fine vehicle except for some underlined:  Rust. 
   I am Re-Reading Spengler's underlined:  "Decline of the West."  It appeared 50 years ago this Month (July 1918) - at which time World War I was busy proving Oswald's thesis.
