Out in Guatemala three months, later a visit to Belgium (Brussels, Bruges, Gand* etc. - very pleasant), a few trips to different places in France. But we've been here since october, and the youngsters you announced never showed up. We were in Angkor in 68 - huge and glorious site, such lovely people, so peaceful! It was only for a visit, Henri only digs in central or south America. But Angkor is the siege of the French School of the Far east and is being reconstructed by French archeolgists. I believe it has been saved from the war thanks to the presence of the French chief of the mission - who is still there, though no work can be done now. It's unbearable thinking of war among such quiet people.

 As ever S. L.

[* Gand is the French spelling of Ghent]
